WEEK 1
31/10/22 – Storyboard Rotation
On the first day of the storyboard rotation we were shown a presentation that entailed the deadlines and activates for each day. Throughout this first workshop session we looked at various different shot types, angles, composition styles, colour theory and the use of this throughout classic films.

We were then given the assignment for the first week this being to create a storyboard of between 20 – 60 frames about two people in a coffee shop having a disagreement. We need to make a draft for this for this Friday and to be finalised by next Friday.
Throughout this session we talked further on: various different storyboards, visual literacy, composition, the most common aspect ratio’s, appeal, emotional responses, story point, the use of horizontal lines in a frame, the use of vertical lines in a frame, symmetry in a frame, diagonal lines in a frame, asymmetry in a frame and how this adds dynamism, lines, rule of thirds, designs of the shapes used within the frame, focal point in the frame, depth of field, perspective, contrast within the frame, foreground, middle ground, background, overlapping forms, change in size of a frame and finally staging.

02/11/22
Today was the second day of rotation for storyboarding, today we broke off into groups to create a mood board about a prompt given to us. Our groups prompt was ‘little red riding on’, we asked to create a mood board on how we would make this into a media product today. Our film created a show that followed a darker and more grim/mysterious rendition of little red riding hood.

04/11/22
Today we had Jane Hankin teaching us – she reviewed our storyboards and gave us advice on what we could do better. She gave me further idea’s of what I could do within my storyboard as at this time I feel it is still quite limited and needs further work to create a better piece.

WEEK 2
07/11/22
While I was not within the lesson on the Monday, I was told the rest of the class carried out life drawing sessions of what they could see in the classroom around them on A4 sheets of paper, then conjoining all drawings to make a scene. To catch up on this work I will complete this life drawing activity at home.
09/11/22
Today we went to South Bank to create life drawings of the people and environment around us. From this I created quick sketches of human studies of those passing, we went to a nearby coffee shop to try and catch glimpses of peoples figures. We had an hour and a half to this. After this we were given another hour and a half to create more drawings however this time we were asked to include backgrounds and or objects within the sketches. This is something I really enjoyed and will be doing again as I felt it helped greatly with my sketch work as well as working in a quick pace to catch the human form. As homework we were then asked to create a 3 box storyboard creating a narrative from the sketches we made from the day at South Bank, this homework will then be presented on Friday and reviewed by our teacher.
