ORIGIN STORY OF ELEPHANT & CASTLE

Today was a lecture day in which we were to create a ‘artists book’ in one day about the story/backstory of Elephant and Castle. We then went off into groups of 5 to spend the day creating this – our group deciding to create a physical elephant out of clay, used a large wooden box frame to be the castle and illustrated a small elephant character in different printed off scenes of the area and stuck onto the frames of the wooden box. The story followed a miniature, mouse sized elephant who stole ‘bits and bobs’ of the people in elephant and castle, then storying them in his secret hidden castle; thus given the name elephant and castle. We then animated this by creating a short stop motion of the scenes.
